Mitt Talk sends calls from a coach's iPhone to players' Apple Watches and keeps a record of each game. This page says plainly what is collected, where it lives and who can see it.
The short version
- Calls travel directly between the phone and the watches over encrypted Bluetooth. They do not pass through us.
- Game data lives on the coach's iPhone. It reaches our servers only if the coach signs in, which is optional.
- No advertising, no tracking or analytics software, no sale or sharing of data for marketing. Ever.
- Players do not create accounts and the app asks them for nothing.
What we collect, and why
When you request access on this site
Your name, email, team, level and anything you write in the message box. We use it to reply to you and to decide who to invite. It is stored in our database and a copy is emailed to us.
When a coach creates an account
An email address, a display name and a password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only as a salted hash; we cannot read them.
When a signed-in coach uses the app
- Team setup: team name, the names and numbers of pitchers and catchers as the coach types them, pitch lists, the call board and scheduled games.
- Game records: each call and its result, the count, inning and timing, the opponent's name, and whether each watch confirmed delivery.
- Device details: the name a watch reports (for example “Sam's Apple Watch”), its model, battery level and app version, so a coach can see which watch is which.
- Diagnostic logs: after a game or bullpen, and when a coach taps Send logs, the app emails us its connection log: app and iOS version, Bluetooth events, and each watch's name, battery and link status. It holds no pitch calls and never the team code. We use it to find why a sign did not arrive. A coach can switch the automatic copy off in the app's Settings.
We use this only to run the product: to show the coach their own reports, to sync setup between the web and the phone, and to let coaches on the same team share a view.
What we do not collect
- No location. The app never asks for it.
- No health data. The watch app starts a workout session during a game because that is the way watchOS lets an app stay awake. Mitt Talk does not read heart rate or any other health data, and it sends none to us.
- No contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
- No advertising identifiers and no third-party analytics.
Players and minors
Mitt Talk is a tool for coaches. It is not directed at children, players do not sign up, and the watch app collects nothing from the person wearing it beyond the device details above. Player names appear only because a coach entered them. Coaches are responsible for having whatever permission their league, school or club requires to record players' names and statistics, and they are free to use numbers or initials instead. If you are a parent or guardian and want a player's information removed, contact the team's coach or us and we will remove it.
Where data lives and who handles it
- On the coach's iPhone, always. This is the primary copy.
- Supabase hosts the database and sign-in, in the United States.
- Vercel hosts this website and the dashboard.
- Twilio SendGrid delivers our emails.
- Apple distributes the apps through TestFlight and sees what Apple sees for any app you install.
These companies process data on our behalf to provide their service. We do not give your data to anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Who can see a team's data
Only the members of that team: the owner, coaches they invite, and read-only viewers they invite. Access is enforced in the database, not just hidden in the screens. We can access data to operate and support the service and do so only when needed.
Keeping and deleting
We keep account and team data while the account is open. A coach can delete games from the phone and archive players on the web at any time. To delete a game from the cloud, close an account or remove everything about a team, ask us and we will do it within 30 days. Access requests from people we do not invite are deleted within a year.
Security
Calls are encrypted with a key derived from the team's code, so a watch that is not on the team cannot read them. Connections to our servers use TLS. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected coaches promptly if we learn of a breach involving their data.
Your choices
You can use Mitt Talk without an account, in which case nothing reaches us at all. You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion at any time.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and tell signed-in coaches. For any privacy question or request, write to info@mitttalk.com.
